Alpha lipoic acid is an organic compound with powerful antioxidant properties. It works within the mitochondria and with the body’s natural anti-oxidant defenses to fight against free radicals.

Mechanism of Action
Due to Alpha lipoic acid being both water and fat soluble, it’s easily absorbed and transported across cell membranes; thus, free radical protection occurs both inside and outside of cells.
It acts as a neuroprotective agent in various pathogenic pathways. It increases acetylcholine production, inhibits hydroxyl radical production, and increases the process of getting rid of reactive oxygen species (free radicals).
